Candida is a normally harmless inhabitant of our skin, mucus membranes, gastrointestinal tract and genitourinary tract. When conditions are favourable, the Candida begins to overgrow causing numerous problems from the top of the head to the tips of the toes. Since the yeast is already present in the body, the symptoms are referred to as Candida overgrowth as opposed to yeast infection. It can result in internal symptoms such as malfunction of vital organs and externally in the form of eczema and hives. It can also cause mental and emotional problems. Candida puts out over 79 different kinds of toxins causing innumerable symptoms, diseases and malfunctions. Candida overgrowth is often not taken seriously as its symptoms mimic many other conditions.

Antibiotics,
steroids: cortisone, prednisone, birth-control pills,
estrogen replacement therapy, poor diet, unhealthy
lifestyle, chemotherapy, radiation, stress, and alcohol
abuse are generally responsible for Candida
overgrowth.
If
Candida overgrowth is not treated it mutates into a
pathogenic fungus with rhizoids causing a multitude of
symptoms. The roots burrow into the intestinal walls,
creating leaky gut, allowing the yeast entry into the
bloodstream, from whence they colonize tissues
throughout the body. The leaky gut allows toxins and
large molecules which otherwise would not have entered
the circulatory system to be absorbed have to be
eliminated creating an enormous and cause enormous
strain on the already overburdened immune system. The
Candida overgrowth then progresses to systemic
Candidiasis.
Candida
overgrowth mainly targets the nerves and muscles, but is
quite capable of attacking any tissue or organ in the
body. The most common symptoms are indigestion,
bloating, gas, fatigue, disorientation or “mental fog”,
poor memory, numbness, abdominal pain, constipation,
diarrhea, anxiety attacks, depression, irritability, and
inability to control hunger, lack of coordination,
headaches, rashes, vaginal yeast infections, and urinary
frequency. As the Candida keeps overgrowing, it
interferes with absorption of nutrients, altering
metabolism and body functions.
A
healthy body by definition is unfriendly habitat for
pathogens. A normal pH balance does not generate a
biochemical environment in which Candida or other
disease-causing organisms can proliferate. To overcome
Candida
overgrowth
is a four step process:
1. Eliminate foods
that feed Candida.
2.
Build up the immune system
3.
Kill the Candida overgrowth.
4.
Re-populate the digestive tract with friendly
bacteria.
This
four-step process is, however, a lifelong journey. You
will need the help of a holistic practitioner to hold
your hand and start you on the journey. It will involve
not only physical healing but mental, emotional, and
spiritual healing as well. The journey may be arduous
but will lead to health and happiness that no wealth on
earth can match.
