Yeasts are present in almost all parts of the body, including the skin on the face. They can thrive is any part that is warm, dark, and moist. Candidiasis is a yeast infection caused primarily by Candida albicans. Yeast infection is common in immuno-compromised patients, diabetics, obesity, geriatric patients, and patients receiving antibiotics. Candida normally is present on skin and mucosal surfaces. Changes in the habitat may lead to its overgrowth and subsequent skin disease. Under normal conditions, the protective bacteria on our skin and in our bodies protects against yeast infection. Along with the friendly bacteria, the ability of the intact skin to protect the body is the first line of defense against yeast and other infections.

The
friendly bacteria are eliminated by antibiotics normally
used to treat infections, or by the over zealous use of
antibacterial or deodorant soaps. Rough scrubbing,
nicks, or abrasions, or injuries or too much exfoliation
can lead to yeast
infection on the face.
In addition, certain disease conditions can also make it
easier to get a yeast infection on the chin. People with
diabetes, who are obese, who have HIV, are elderly with
poor nutrition or who already have another yeast
infection are more likely to get a yeast infection on
the face. Patients using antibacterial cream my have
higher incidence of yeast infection as the antibacterial
cream gets rid of the pathogens as well as the friendly
bacteria. Babies could contract yeast infection on their
face through breast feeding if the mother has
one.
There
are several treatments for yeast infections, and the
active compounds are more or less the same regardless of
the part of the body that is infected. They are either
topical in the form of ointment or cream, or oral
tablets. Most antifungal medications, however, are toxic
and cause serious side effects. In addition, they only
take care of the symptoms without eliminating the cause.
Some natural remedies like application of apple cider
vinegar, borax, baking soda solution hydrogen peroxide,
aloe vera gel, etc are not only effective but safe to
use to especially for children with yeast infection.
Indirect method like eating probiotic yoghurt also helps
from inside out.
Yeast
infection on the face
or anywhere is a sign of something amiss in the body, an
imbalance. To set it right and prevent future problems,
it is best that the infection be treated holistically.
Holistic medicine treats the body as a whole, taking
into consideration the physical, emotional, mental, as
well as the spiritual aspects of the body to bring about
a balance where no disease can take root. Thus, not only
will you be cured of the yeast infection but will also

modifications in lifestyle, good food habits, weight
control, stress management through yoga, exercises,
